Netflix Originals – Kimmy Schmidt, Love, Special Correspondents | Written By: Lee

Love on Netflix, Gillian Jacobs new show, Britta from Community new show, ,Netflix OriginalsIn any given week you’ll see my social media light up with posts about Netflix Originals whether I’m watching a series or a movie. I watch Netflix Originals all day and then late at night after I’ve finished the cable shows I need to watch. Netflix is like my comfortable blanket, I just can’t wait to wrap up in it and relax at the end of the hard day. Recently I’ve found myself relaxing with Season 2 of The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Love and Special Correspondents a movie I watched with Tim the night it aired! Netflix Originals are my favorite way to unwind and I get all kinds of antsy when it’s time to share my favorite shows with you.

The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 2

Kimmy’s back and her constant need to fix everyone around her is even funnier this season 2. I have to say that Titus Andromedon is one of my favorite show characters of all time. With lines like

“Oh, no Kimmy. The internet doesn’t talk like that. The internet talks like Chandler.”

when Kimmy thinks that an internet group bullying Titus has changed their mind about him due to her going onto their group in his defense. Kimmy still has to babysit Jacqueline and remind her how to be a self respecting person day in and day out. Unfortunately (or fortunately) it doesn’t work often enough which leads to many laughs. She and Dong are still having a secret love affair, but really, they’re trying hard to fight it. I mean, he’s married to Sonja, right? And who knows where she may be lurking with her invisibility helmet! And now Tina Fey makes a regular appearance as a drunk psychiatrist. Oh you just have to watch. I think I Tweeted at least 10 times a day the three days it took me to watch The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season 2. And now it’s totally my go to GIF.

Love

In case you haven’t noticed, I rather enjoy shows about adults who don’t act like adults. Love, starring Gillian Jacobs of Community fame, is one of these shows. Mickey and Gus are as different as night and day but equally as awkward. When Gus pays it forward in a convenience store for Mickey it begins an unhealthy relationship. Mickey is an unhappy, contrarian addict putting all her eggs in the Gus basket. And Gus, a nice guy with great friends but a pretty dorky vibe just doesn’t see her trouble coming.
One of the aspects I love about Love is Gus works on a television studio set. Although dramatized, you get to see the behind the scenes dealings of working on a show set. Iris Apatow plays a 12 year old actress who is far too spoiled and I guess what you’d call a Diva. Also, and this is just a me thing, an entire episode takes place at my home away from home The Magic Castle. This show makes you feel good about every bad relationship you’ve ever had. Enjoy!

Special Correspondents

Sometimes binge watching does tire me out and I want to watch an actual movie. Eric Bana and Ricky Gervais star in the Netflix Original movie Special Correspondents. Eric Bana isn’t historically known as a funny guy. Ricky Gervais is historically known as the funny guy. This time however Bana was given the chance to run with a script and have a great time. He’s plays radio journalist Frank, out for fame and he’ll do anything to get it. Ricky plays the pushover nice guy technician Ian, who’s willing to do just about anything to make Frank happy. Except that Ian’s a mess and a klutz and forgetful and when they’re sent on assignment he loses their passports before they can board the plane.
Instead of turning around and going home with their tail between their legs Frank decides to stage a war inside the attic of a local restaurant until they can get their passports back and fly overseas. Then they stage a kidnapping but the worst part is they end up actually becoming kidnapped. And wait, did I mention Bana slept with Gervais’ wife recently (unknowingly)? Vera Farmiga is my favorite part of the movie. Her desperate need for the spotlight at the most inappropriate moments makes the entire movie.

Enjoy My Favorite Can’t Miss Netflix Originals

I couldn’t do without Netflix and my Netflix Originals both series and movies are what makes the service so great. Sure, I can binge watch old shows I miss or catch up on shows I never had a chance to watch but an original show is even better. I recommend you give The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season 2, Love and Special Correspondents a try next time you need to relax and unwind.

*I’m a member of the #Netflix #StreamTeam and receive free Netflix and gifts throughout the year. But I love my Netflix Originals like everyone else. Promise.
